As local and state transit agencies vote on more funding for a tram between BART and the Oakland Airport parking lot, an updated study is showing it requires a $102 taxpayer subsidy for each new rider to go just 3 miles. Bay Area transit advocacy group TransForm says that by comparison a limousine could pick up eight people at their home anywhere in the East Bay and take them straight to the airport terminal for just $99. TransForm references a $500 million cost for the OAC (Oakland Airport Connector) while BART totals it at $484 million.
Officials from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Port of Oakland recently held a news conference to announce advanced imaging technology (AIT) at Oakland International Airport (OAK). Members of the news media were invited to see a demonstration of the body scan technology and observe the steps TSA has taken to protect passenger privacy of imaging technology screening. The new units are installed and now operating at Terminal 1.
The popularity of tequila is growing outside of Mexico, especially in the United States.
The National Chamber of the Tequila Industry in Mexico reported that 56 per cent of the tequila production from February 2009-2010 was shipped out of Mexico to 84 countries - the United States being the country that received the most tequila – 74 per cent of all exports .
