Alameda County Fair entertains all day, every day ----
If a big variety of fun family entertainment for a low admission price sounds too good to be true, then you probably haven’t been to the Alameda County Fair. This year’s event opens June 17th and runs through Sunday July 5th.
Favorite attractions include horse racing, animals, food, rides, extreme rodeo, monster trucks, demolition derby, motocross, kids’ attractions, and more. The huge event is held in Pleasanton at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, a 270-acre facility that has been home to the annual fair since 1912.
New to the fair is Festival Latino Day on Sunday, June 21st, which is also Father’s Day. Enjoy the band Tierra live in concert, plus Fiesta del Charro rodeo, cultural dancers and entertainers, and great food. Kids will enjoy games, carnival rides, a barnyard petting zoo, and story readings in Spanish.
Father’s Day will also be celebrated with special attractions and promotions just for dads, including Brew Haven, a craft beer festival held during the first week of the Fair.
Fans of Extreme entertainment will find it all in one place this year at the fair, with three new Action Zone attractions: Monster Trucks, Demolition Derby and Extreme Rodeo. In addition to Freestyle Motocross, a different new show will be featured each weekend.
Free concerts every night feature top bands in rock and country music. A fireworks show follows the concerts each night, including a Fireworks Spectacular on July 4th.
Returning this year is the annual Fair Food SNACKDOWN competition where the fair’s food vendors offer up their best new, original creations for the ultimate taste test. A live judging event to decide the champions will be held at the Fair on June 21st.
The 2015 Fair runs from Wednesday, June 17 through Sunday, July 5, and is open Tuesday through Sunday each week. As in past years, Opening Day attendees will enjoy $1 admission and $1 rides, until 5 p.m. The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Event admission is $12 for adults (age 13-61); $8 for seniors (62+) and children (6-12). Children under 6 enter free. A complete schedule of shows, attractions, and ticket promotions is available on the Fair’s website at www.alamedacountyfair.com and on their Facebook page.
The Alameda County Fair is operated by the non-profit Fair Association without any tax funding from the government. It is ranked one of the Top 50 North American Fairs and the 7th largest fair in California.
